Epstein Barr Virus VCA IgG (EBV, VCA IgG) ELISA kit

$475.00

EBV ELISA Test kit

EBV ELISA Test kit Intended Use
Epstein-Barr Virus Viral Capsid Antigen (EBV-VCA) IgG test kit is an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) designed for the qualitative detection of IgG class antibodies to EBV Viral Capsid Antigen in human serum. This test kit is intended to be used for evaluation of serologic evidence of previous infection with Epstein-Barr Virus.

EBV IgG ELISA Kit Components:
• Microplate: 96 wells coated with inactivated EBV VCA antigen
• HPR-Enzyme Conjugate Goat anti-human IgG
• Sample Diluent
• Calibrator
• Positive Control
• Negative Control
• TMB
• Wash Buffer (10X)
• Stop Solution (1M H2SO4, 0.7 HCl)

Method Principle
This Diagnostic Automation/ Cortez Diagnostics Inc. Human EBV IgG ELISA test system is designed to detect IgG class antibodies to EBV in human sera. Wells of microplate strips are sensitized by passive absorption with EBV antigen. The test procedure involves three incubation steps. For further details please refer to complete instructions manual supplied with the product.

Background Information
Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) is a ubiquitous human virus which causes infectious mononucleosis (IM), a self-limiting lymphoproliferative disease. By adulthood virtually everyone has been infected with and has developed immunity to the virus. In underdeveloped countries, seroconversion to the virus takes place in early childhood and is usually asymptomatic. In more affluent countries, primary EBV infections are often delayed until adolescence or later, and manifest as IM in about 50% of this age group. Following seroconversion, whether symptomatic or not, EBV establishes a chronic, latent infection in B lymphocytes which may last for life. Both IgM and IgG antibodies to the viral capsid antigen (VCA) peak three to four weeks after primary EBV infection. IgM anti-VCA antibodies decline rapidly and are usually undetectable after 12 weeks. IgG anti-VCA antibody titers decline slowly after peaking but last indefinitely. The ELISA procedure, may be a sensitive and reliable method for detection of antibodies to EBV antigens. The ELISA procedure allows an objective determination of antibody status based on a single dilution of the test specimen and is suitable for screening large numbers of patient samples.
