Rubella IgG ELISA Test kit

Rubella ELISA Test kit Intended Use
Rubella ELISA test kit is designed for the qualitative and/or quantitative detection of IgG antibodies to rubella virus in human serum. The test system is intended to be used to evaluate single sera for immune status or paired sera to demonstrate seroconversion.

Rubella ELISA Kit Components:
• Microplate: 96 wells coated with inactivated Rubella antigen
• HPR-Enzyme Conjugate Goat anti-human IgG
• Sample Diluent
• Calibrator
• Positive Control
• Negative Control
• Wash Buffer (10X)
• Chromogen/Substrate Solution
• Stop Solution (1M H2SO4, 0.7MHCl)

Method Principle
This Diagnostic Automation/ Cortez Diagnostics Inc. Human Rubella IgG ELISA test system is designed to detect IgG class antibodies to Rubella virus in human sera. Wells of microplate strips are sensitized by passive absorption with Rubella antigen. The test procedure involves three incubation steps. For further details please refer to complete instructions manual supplied with the product.

Background Information
Rubella also known as German measles is caused by Rubella virus which belongs to the Togavirus family. Generally rubella is considered a mild adolescence disease. However a maternal infection could be transmitted through the placenta to the fetus, causing congenital rubella in newborn. Congenital rubella may result in chronic cardiac disease, growth retardation, hepatosplenomegaly, auditory defects, blindness, cerebral malformations and other severe anomalies. The first trimester defect is associated with the highest risk of defects in organogenesis. Children born asymptomatic may develop these abnormalities later in life. To reduce risk of such severe complications, accurate serological tests must be performed to determine the serologic status of childbearing aged women. The Rubella antibody status of pregnant women are commonly determined at the first prenatal visit. Those without antibodies are monitored through early pregnancy for seroconversion. The antibodies present to Rubella may be of IgM, and IgG/IgM. The physiological function of IgM and its clinical implication is still unclear. Rubella IgM elisa test provides an accurate and sensitive method to detect Rubella IgM antibody.
