Almond ELISA Test kit Intended Use
ß-Lactoglobulin ELISA kit is a quantitative test based on the principle of the enzyme
linked immunosorbent assay. ß-Lactoglobulin ELISA test represents a highly sensitive detection system and is particularly capable of the identification and quantification of bovine milk residues in cookies, cereals, sausage, orange juice, wine, and soy products and chocolate.

Beta-Lactoglobulin ELISA Kit Components:
• Microplate: 96 wells coated with anti-ß-lactoglobulin antibodies
• ß-lactoglobulin standards
• Conjugate anti- ß-lactoglobulin-peroxidase
• Substrate Solution
• Stop Solution
• Extraction and sample dilution buffer
• Washing Solution

Method Principle
This Diagnostic Automation/ Cortez Diagnostics Inc. Beta-Lactoglobulin ELISA Kit is a quantitative test based on the principle of the enzyme linked immunosorbent assay.
ß-Lactoglobulin containing samples or standards are bound on the surface of a microplate wells. For further details please refer to complete instructions manual supplied with the product.

Background Information
Approximately 20% of bovine milk proteins are whey proteins. The main fraction of whey proteins consists of the heat-stable allergen ß- lactoglobulin. Beta-Lactoglobulin is the major whey protein in ruminants and pigs but it is not found in the milk of many other species. Milk from humans appears to be devoid of Beta Lactoglobulin. No function has definitely been ascribed to this protein. The ability of Beta-Lactoglobulin to bind retinol, fatty acids and other hydrophobic substances suggest the biological function of this protein could be the transport of these substances to the newborn. Human infants can develop an allergenic response to cow milk proteins. Beta-Lactoglobulin is the primary antigenic component that stimulates the immune hypersensitivity response in the infant. Symptoms are similar to lactose intolerance. Thus, Bovine milk belongs to the most important allergenic food ingredients especially for children. Very low amounts of bovine milk can cause allergic reactions, which may lead to anaphylactic shock in severe cases. Because of this issue, persons with milk allergic must strictly avoid the consumption of milk or milk containing food. In particular the presence of hidden milk proteins such as in sausage, cookies, convenience food or beverages represent a critical problem for milk allergic persons. Thus for the detection of bovine milk in products sensitive detection systems are required. This Milk Residue ELISA test kit is a rapid and reliable test, which significantly reduces the time required to screen food products for the presence of Beta-Lactoglobulin.
